A Farewell To Blogging?

A post from my Wordpress blog

I am still not entirely sure how I came to start blogging about sex and sexuality. It was something that crept up on me unexpectedly when I was in my late 40s. I started my blog in late 2012 (how long ago that seems now) and soon acquired a few regular readers. I joined Twitter to promote my blog and made contacts that, in some cases, have lasted until today. In the early years sex work, sex workers’ rights and the struggle against Rhoda Grant’s ill-conceived attempt to introduce legislation to outlaw the purchase of sex in Scotland were a main focus of my writing although I did post some early erotic stories. I learned a lot, I had a couple of stories published in anthologies and I discovered a community of likeminded people.

Community proved to be the most important thing. In 2013 I heard about a conference called Eroticon bringing bloggers and erotica writers together in London. I didn’t go and regretted it. I spent the weekend at my desk following the live tweets, feeling the nagging pain of not being at something I knew I really wanted to be at, needed to be at.

The following year I did go to Eroticon, this time at Bristol and had an amazing time, meeting people in real life that I had engaged with online, attending incredible talks, learning all the time. I knew I had found my tribe, a feeling confirmed when the high of the event was followed by several days of feeling really low when I got home, the “Eroticon drop” and it really did feel a lot like the sub drop or dom drop most…
